Neatorama has an interesting look at the early history of photography that begins with the earliest camera obscura techniques to the first photograph created in 1826 up to Mole and Thomas’ ambitions photographs of World War I soldiers arranged to form giant symbols tied to the United States.
It’s a good read and will make you appreciate all your brand-new digital gear that much more.
